CONTEMPORARY ART CREATED FROM LIFE AND IMAGINATION

Thankfully, I am never bored. As a contemporary American artist, I see everything and anything as a possible subject. Many of my paintings start in my imagination and move toward an abstracted under painting. Often, at this point I look for elements of design, color relationships and wait to see if something starts to appear as I turn the painting around and around looking for it's purpose. Maybe it will be a landscape, maybe a figure-human or animal. Or, if I'm doing a commissioned piece, I will draw in the subject and let the under painting peak through here and there. Other times, I will stand at my easel "en plein air" and take a loose, modern approach to painting the landscape. I work primarily with oil paint, but sometimes pastels or acrylics. I have studios in Huntsville and Riviera, Texas and find most of my subjects in the diversified people and ever evolving Texas landscape.
