What?? It's been anything but cool in Texas, but Jeff and I managed to escape the heat and spend a couple of weeks in a cabin in Almont, North Dakota, where we enjoyed average temperatures between 52 and 78 degrees.

As we drive home today to Huntsville, the temperature reading is 106. Regardless, we are glad to be back in Texas.

 

 

One of the best things about being an artist is that I can put my easel in the dirt just about anywhere and enjoy painting the scenery. And, that's just what I did while Jeff worked with the 16 English Pointer dogs we took with us. I was able to stand on high hills with beautiful views, get up close and personal with fields or sunflowers, paint Spanish Olive trees, old churches, old houses and just sink into the wonderful countryside. We cooked outside and enjoyed not going to restaurants (there weren't any). Our cute cabin was over 100 years old and very comfortable.

 

 

Yes, it was a long trip - about 23 hours each way, but so worth it. The United State of America has so much to offer and we saw lots of American flags waving, which was confirming to see that so many others feel the same.
