What a wonderful, mild Spring we are having in Texas and getting out of doors to paint is finally back in my life. “Plein air” painting is a healing balm for many artists and I am certainly one of those. There’s just something special about setting up my easel and trying to capture the scene in front of me. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t but the attempt is lots of fun either way.

I love the downtown area of Huntsville, Texas. There is a quaint, small town feeling around the court house square and I enjoy painting and visiting with people strolling by. You might recognize the building in the painting “DOWNTOWN GLOWING.” In my real estate life, I sold this building to a couple who successfully renovated it and managed to blend the old and the new for their professional office.

Then, down the block and around the corner, I just had to paint the wonderful display in the window of an antique store. “ALL DRESSED UP WITH NO PLACE TO GO” is a kind of melancholy reflection on life in a pandemic.
