It’s Fall….isn’t it?? The Texas temperatures are finally cooling a bit (only 90 degrees for a high today), but I’m not complaining. The mornings are getting crisp and the late afternoon light is gorgeous. So, I’m getting out and painting “En Plein Air.” I simply love standing outside and slinging paint around my canvas.

Other than becoming the President of the fabulous Conroe Art League which has its home in the Madeley Gallery in downtown Conroe, I have been doing a little traveling. I set my easel in the dirt in California, Fredericksburg and any place I could find a little shade in our beautiful, varied state of Texas.

Painting Pals.... Are we there yet?

Topping the list of exciting places to paint was a trip to Competa and Nerja in Spain. The artist retreat I attended was focused on abstracting the landscape and figure. Since I already like to paint in a fairly loose style, I put my brushes away and grabbed my palette knives. Oh wow! This is fun!  (Paintings from Spain coming soon.)
